When I finished E’s cowl the other day, I figured I had enough to make a cute little headband to keep the spring winds from chilling her little ears. Enter Groovy Girlfriend Earwarmer.
This little number was absolutely perfect for the amount of yarn I had left. The pattern is really well-written, and I particularly like how she engineered the increases and decreases. And check out that flower:
That’s right — it’s crochet. I fear the hook, but none of the knitted flowers had the same flair. After trying to figure out what all those sc, sl st, dc mean, I finally got it. Adorable. And the button? From E’s stash.
My girl likes buttons and she’s managed to accumulate quite a lot of them. She’s even got other moms dropping off buttons for her in our mailbox. We got The One (aka, the button sewn on the center of the flower) at the same store where we bought the yarn, and I think it works so well. She loves it.
I think I see lots more of these headbands in my future. They are so quick and easy — the whole shebang took me just a few hours to crank out (and that’s including my learning curve with crochet). That little flower just kills me with its cuteness.
