You guys. Y’all. (Why yes, I did live in the South.) I can’t even tell you how much I appreciate being nominated by Lynne Cobb (back in May) and by Melissa at Millie on Her World (earlier this month) for the Versatile Blogger Award. It’s just so thoughtful of you both! Thanks!
And then I was completely surprised when three (!) bloggers — Renee Spindle, Alena at Alena’s Life and Clare at Simplify2X — nominated me for a Reader Appreciation Award this month. I don’t even know what to say other than thank you so much! You guys rock!
(By the way — if you haven’t been to visit these writers’ blogs, you really need to check them out. I think I’ve spoken before here and here about how much I enjoy reading them. So go ahead and click on over. I’ll be right here.)
I just have to tell you: I love writing here in this space. I love that you guys come here, read my ramblings and forgive my overuse of parenthetical statements. I love hearing from you in the comments, love reading your blogs. Love. It. All.
I feel so touched and overwhelmed by these awards that it takes me a bit to process them and pass them along — which feels a little churlish. And I definitely don’t want that.
The fun part of these awards is getting to know someone a little better (with a list of things you may not know about the person). And, hands down, the best part of them is discovering new blogs recommended by someone whose writing you enjoy. It’s like perusing the stacks at your library and finding a great book by an author you’ve never heard of but recognize as a “must-read” from Goodreads.
So in honor of these awards, I decided to change things up a bit. First, I’m adding a page dedicated to these awards and the lovely folks who nominated me as a kind of permanent “Thank you!” to them. You can see it right up there in the header.
Second, I’m updating my “About” page to include some random facts about me. Emphasis on the “random.”
Third, I’m including a blogroll over there in the sidebar with links to the blogs I love to read. I’m going to attempt to keep it updated as an homage to the “expand the blogosphere” spirit of these awards. I’ll add new blogs as I come across them — so keep passing along new ones!
Thanks again to Lynne, Melissa, Renee, Alena and Clare for nominating me for these awards, and thanks to all of you for reading, commenting and sharing. You guys are the best.

You are welcome and deserving! Thanks for the plug for our blogs
Thanks so much Lynne! I love your blogs! (I almost wrote “I love all y’all’s blogs.” The heat must be bringing me back to my days in the South!)
LOL!
Yay for you! Congrats!
Thanks Micha!
“All y’all’s blogs!!” I love that southern diction!
That Southern accent is tough to shake once it’s been ingrained. My husband says I drop into it when 1) I’m tired; 2) it’s a random blue moon; and 3) we cross the Mason-Dixon line.
I can relate to that: my parents, who both grew up in England, have lived in the United States for 45 years. Yet, when they 1) talk on the phone with their English relatives or 2) go on a trip to England, they come back sounding like they just got off the boat!
Exactly! I do that as well, and most of the time I don’t even realize I’ve dropped back into a Southern accent until my husband and kids start snickering. Ah well….
